Aims and Objectives of the Family Law Reform Association of NSW Inc.
> To introduce sensible reforms to the workings of the Family Law Act and its courts in Australia
> To act as a source of constructive aid to all members involved in Family Law proceedings
> To raise as much support as possible for the association from a broad cross-section
of Australian society
> To disseminate information to members in relation to Family Law
We are currently working on the following Policies
> Working with the Federal Minister for Education on a National Schools Policy
> Working on Reforms to Child Support and the way the Agency conducts its business with parents
> Working on Reforms to the Family Court's approach to becoming more user friendly
> Prevention of Child Abduction - making it a 'real' crime.
Past Achievements
> Participated in the 1990 Family Law Conference in Canberra
> Organised and held a Family Law Rally in July 1990
> Helped to convince the Federal Government to hold the 1991 / 1992 Family Law Inquiry
> Organised and held a Family Law Conference in July 1992
> Presented submissions to the Federal Inquiry into the Child Support Scheme
> Developed a comprehensive submission for the House of Representatives Inquiry
into Shared Parenting in 2004
> Developed a liaison with a number of members of Parliament from all parties and independents
> We were instrumental in successfully lobbying the NSW Department Of School Education for changes to
the Family Law and the Schools Policy acknowledging the rights of both parents
> Successfully lobbied the Federal Attorney-General for the concept of Rebuttable Shared Parenting
